Spring slowly coming to the farm!
Well, the calendar says it is spring but this week we have consistently fallen below freezing.  Monday morning it was 23 degrees, Tuesday 25 degrees, and Wednesday 28 degrees.  This morning it was finally a balmy 38 degrees!  While things are slowly moving along outside, the high tunnels are full of growth.  Beets, Swiss Chard, Cutting Celery, Dill, Lacinato Kale, Red Russian Kale, Spinach, Osaka Purple Mustard, and Cilantro are all thriving.  We have lots of tomato, cucumber, Basil, Cilantro, peppers, and Eggplant starts in the greenhouse.  Hopefully it will start behaving outside so we can get going further!  We have already planted four varieties of fingerling potatoes and five varieties of various all purpose such as All Blue, Yukon Gold, Purple Viking (a previous fan favorite!), Bintje and Red Lasoda.

We also we so pleased with our Raised Bed Workshop and Spring Greens Cooking Class and luncheon.  What a fabulous turnout!  It was so much fun to showcase our raised bed activities and see how many folks are passionate about growing their own.  Based upon the great turnout, we will host another again soon!  Thanks to all of the great volunteers who helped out!  Diana, Rob, Ellie, and Stephanie.  Thanks to all for making the event such a great day!

Owner, Merritt Mitchell Wajeeh, moved to the Yakima Valley in the fall of 2007 with the idea of bringing fresh, local, and organic produce to market. Merritt brings with her an extensive background in the environmental field, eco-friendly gardening techniques, and has even been a beekeeper!

Our first year in the valley was dedicated to getting settled with a young family and growing a successful test garden.  Now in our third year, we offer a limited number of “garden shares” to individuals interested in being a part of our sustainable farm, a place where all workers are treated fairly and excess harvest is given to local food banks.  You can also find us at the Prosser Farmers' Market!

If it is important to you to know where your food comes from, and know that you are eating the freshest seasonal and local organic produce that is grown with loving hands, then this farm is for you!
